Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20206 Review

Today we're going to review part number BDW20206. This is the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. Now this wiring kit will provide a power connection for your Bulldog winch to the rear of your vehicle. It is designed to fit most standard bed trucks. And if you can see, it actually includes 20 feet of both two-gauge power, right over here the red power. And the black ground wires with the looped ends.

It has the crimp connector attached. Now there are two connectors. One's already attached on the two wires, and the other one is here to choose to attache with these connectors to connect to the wire on your winch. Now these are 20 feet long, these are designed to attach these ends to your battery in your vehicle, and this one's to the back of your vehicle. Now it does include this dust cover, as you can see, since it's not connected to any connector, you put a dust cover in there to help protect it from the elements. When you're ready to connect it, you just pull the dust cover out.

Then you have your terminals right there. Now what you end up doing- that also comes with these cable ties that are used to secure these longer wires on your vehicle. Now what you'll do is take your two connector terminals right here and you'll run your wires from your winch into there. So you have your positive and negative wires from your winch. And then to attach these to this, what you'll want to do, is hold this up this way, and they sort of have a hook to them. There's a little hook right there.

With the hook pointing down, what you'll want to do is match up the positive from your winch wire into the positive one, just push it in there. If you push it in far enough, it'll just click into place. Same over here. It says negative. This should be attached to the negative wire.

Make sure the hook's pointing down, push it in, and it locks into place. Pretty simple to do. Then your wires from your winch will be in here and all you have to do is- these will be from your battery in your vehicle. You just push those together, just like that, and it gives you a nice weatherproof seal. Elements can't get to your terminals, and you have a good connection for your winch. When you want to unhook it, just pull them apart, and they pop right apart, and then put your dust cover in just like that to protect your terminals from the elements. That should do it for the review of part number BDW20206, the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. .

Looks like a quality product as has been everything I have ever ordered from you guys!!

by:

Great product, easy to install, jumbo size zip ties, [could use a few more] I like how the dust cap snaps in, not just a piece of rubber that we all know falls out, the wire holding the dust cap could be about an inch longer to make it a little easier to remove and put on [no big deal]

by:

Another quality Bulldog product. Came with everything needed for a clean, straightforward installation and I like that it included an extra plug and necessary components which will enable me to easily fabricate a custom connection to my trailer winch. No janky, homemade wiring for my rig.

by:

Solid kit. Heavy duty wires that ran nicely along the frame. I recommend this product.

Wire kit works great. Ran the wire from the truck battery to the rear of the truck. Made a short connection cable to interface with the winch.

made an easy install and works great

by:

Good quality, works as advertised.

by:

A bit pricey, but convenient to install quickly.

  • Solution for Connecting Trailer Winch to Tow Vehicle Battery
I have a solution for you to connect the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW10039 to your vehicle's battery, but it will not work well for you to connect the winch to the vehicle's 7-way connector. The highest gauge wire a 7-Way connector is compatible with is 10 gauge wire. A winch will use either 2 or 3 gauge wire for power. The best way to easily connect the trailer winch # BDW10039 to your vehicle's battery is to use a Winch Wiring Kit. With the winch's 12,000 pound capacity, you will...

  • Winch Wiring Kit for Running Truck Battery to Battery in Bed of Truck
I am not sure if you meant 14 feet total for both sides or 14 feet for each portion of the wiring but we have the part # BDW20205 which is 7-1/2 feet in length or the # BDW20206 which is 20 feet but the closest option we have to 14 feet.

  • Recommended Wire Size and Wiring Kit to Power Trailer Mounted Winch From Vehicle Battery
You'll want to use 2 gauge wire, like our Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, part # BDW20206. The kit includes a quick connector for the rear of the vehicle, as well as a quick connect that would install on your winch wiring. The wire included with the kit is 20 feet long, so it should work well for you. If you use the provided links, you can see a product description and an install video. I've also linked you to a help article that contains more info about wiring a winch.

  • Wiring Kit to Use ComeUp Off-Road Winch at Back of Truck
Great question! To power your ComeUp Off-Road Winch w/ Mounting Plate for 2" Hitches # CU854768 at the rear of your 2019 Ford F-150 you want to use the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206. This comes with a 20' lead of 2 Gauge Wire. If you need something longer we have the same kit as part # BDW20207 but with a 24' lead of 2 Gauge Wire you can use instead. Attached is an installation video of this wiring kit on a 2007 F-250 for you to check out.

  • How to Power an Electric Winch on a Trailer with the Vehicles Battery
Absolutely, in order to wire an electric winch to the vehicle's battery you will need a wiring kit like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20206 which includes two 20' long 2 gauge wires that run from the vehicle's battery to the trailer as well as two quick disconnect terminals for each end. The only other thing you will need to use with this wiring kit on your vehicle will be a circuit breaker that is appropriate for your winch which will need to be placed 6" from the vehicle's...

  • Availability of Longer Wiring Harness for Superwinch Winch 2 Go # SW1140232
Your best bet to install the Superwinch Winch 2 Go in the manner you described would be to use the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, part # BDW20206 along with part # DL24085. You would then remove the connectors on the # BDW20206 and replace them with those provided by part # DL24085. Once the connectors are replaced, the quick disconnect provided by the wiring kit would plug right into the connector on the winch. According to my Superwinch contact, a longer power cord that has the alligator...

  • Using Electric Winch to Load Ice Fishing Shack onto Trailer
Either the Superwinch Terra # SW1135230 winch with its 3500 lb capacity or the Superwinch # 1120210 LT2000 winch (I am not clear about which one you have) should be able to handle your ice shack with no problem if you use a pulley block like # BDW20004. Using a pulley block can nearly double the winch capacity, which will be necessary because you will be pulling a dead weight up an incline. You would mount the winch offset to one side of the front of the trailer, and secure a heavy duty...

  • Parts Needed to Connect a Vehicle Battery to an Anderson Connector on a Trailer
I recommend using the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206. This kit is going to have 20' of wiring to run from your battery to the back of the truck. It has loops on one end to attach to the battery and an Anderson connector on the other end to be routed to the back of your truck. For a fuse or circuit breaker you can use the 40 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker # 9510. You would wire the wiring kit from the back of the vehicle to the breaker and then jump from the breaker to the battery...

  • Can A Winch Battery And Trailer Breakaway Battery Both Be Charged Through 7-Way 12v Hot Lead
You would be able to charge both the trailer battery as well as the breakaway battery through your 7-way connection to the tow vehicle. This is very standard practice with most people just running a line from each battery to the 12v accessory terminal in the junction box # 3375601101. A 7-way on a vehicle is typically rated for 40amps DC so you won't be getting much going to the batteries once everything is divided up to power any other accessories tied into the circuit so this would be...

This winch mount will make it easy to transfer the winch from the 2 inch front hitch to the 2 inch rear hitch of your Jeep Commander. • Does the Pollak Single-Pole Trailer Connector Provide a Ground Connection
The # PK11851 Single Pole Round Pin Trailer Connector is designed to deliver power to a trailer. It is not grounded, as the battery on the tow vehicle is already grounded and trailer mounted equipment is typically grounded as well. The ground connection would typically be carried through an additional connector, depending on the piece of equipment you are supplying power to you might need to increase the ground wire gauge. If you need the connector to power a winch, you would be better...

  • Wiring for Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit
On the winch side of the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit Item # BDW20206, the wires are designed to be crimped and soldered onto your wires. If you take a look at the video I've linked, you can see this addressed by our installer starting at about the 5:30 mark. As for the wire gauge on your winch, I recommend taking a look at your owner's manual if you still have it laying around somewhere, but 2 gauge is pretty typical on the 9,500 lb winches we carry such as the Bulldog # BDW10045.

  • Is a Diode Needed to Prevent Backfeeding from Trailer to Tow Vehicle
There is a possibility of back feeding but this should not really be of a concern as the odds of it happening are slim to none. If you did choose to use a diode then you would need one rated for the components it would be powering. The highest rated diode we carry is the Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode part # RM-690 which is rated at 85 amps. In order to install the winch at the rear of your vehicle you will also need to install a wiring kit like # BDW20206 because the wiring located at your bumper is not nearly adequate for the amperage draw of a winch. This will also give you quick connect terminals to make installing and removing the winch easy.
